La Haute Route (The High Road)

The "High Road" is a new major event in the cyclo-sporting universe, the first edition taking place from the 21st to 27th August 2011. Starting by Lake Leman in Geveva and finishing on the "Promenade des Anglais" in Nice, the itinerary crosses the Alps from north to south and offers participants the opportunity to climb the mountain passes that have made cycling legends.
A high mountain race over 7 days, with rankings, a distance of over 700 km, 14 mythic passes and 18,000m of uphill on the programme. An exceptional sports challenge, to do individually or in teams of 2... at least once in a lifetime!
The "High road" proposes 7 stages with varying formats, notably a 160 km marathon leg including the ascension of the Granon Pass against the clock. Every evening participants will be able to enjoy the hospitality and comfort of prestigious resorts such as Megève, Les Arcs, Serre-Chevalier, Pra-Loup and Auron. An occasion to be among other enthusiasts but also to share the adventure with family and friends.

The "High Road's" Sporting programme
-4 "classic" stages of between 80 and 120 km, with 2 or 3 passes to climb
-1 "marathon" stage of 160 km, with the Madeleine-Télégraphe-Galibier sequence
-1 "against the clock" stage, with the steep Granon Pass to overcome
- 1 last "prestigious" stage, with a final procession on the "promenade des Anglais".
